Wokefield Park Bedrooms
On behalf of DeVere Venues, the project included the design and construction of a new 95 bed wing to replace a previous bedroom block at the Wokefield Park Executive Centre.
The scheme was delivered on time and within budget, with its greatest success being the speed of project delivery, which was paramount to meet the client’s requirement to minimise disruption to other guests and facilities onsite.
To meet the very ambitious timescales of the project it was agreed to utilise offsite steel framed modular construction. Drawing on our in-depth experience of this building technique, the approach limited the total time onsite to 6 months to ensure that the client’s ambitions were achieved. From initial project meetings in late Nov 2015, including obtaining full planning consent, the complete project duration was just 11 months from inception to opening to guests in October 2016. All modules were fitted out in in line with the client’s current brand standards, the development of which Synergy Architects have been involved in since late 2015.
The main building contract was awarded to Wates Construction with the bedroom modules constructed by Elements Europe. With cost and programme certainty paramount from the outset, the bedroom modules were individually designed to accommodate the requirements for dormer roofs, hipped corner modules and other non standard shapes not typically linked with modular design. Excellent acoustic, thermal and air tightness results were gained by benefitting from the higher level quality controls afforded to a factory built environment.
