The Grand Hotel, Birmingham

The famous Grand Hotel is once again the jewel in Birmingham's crown following its complete restoration and transformation to create a modern luxury 185-bedroom hotel.

Considered Birmingham's finest hotel in its heyday, having hosted King George VI, Winston Churchill and Charlie Chaplin, this iconic venue has once again taken its place as a vibrant and stylish focal point for the city. This famous building, built in 1879 but unused and empty for almost twenty years, was extensively remodelled and renovated to provide a destination hotel for the 21st century.

An inspiring mix of old and new, the hotel combines original Victorian architecture with striking modern additions. Original, listed features were painstakingly restored and the interiors reimagined, bringing comfort and glamour in equal measure. From the ornate Louis XIV-style Grand Ballroom to the stunning duplex penthouse apartment, The Grand is filled with extraordinary spaces.

With many years of service to the client, our trusted expertise and track record of delivery, Synergy Architects were apppointed as architects with overall design responsibility for the project. The work, which cost around £45 million all in, was completed in December 2020, and The Grand Hotel once again opened its doors to guests from May 2021.
