Richmond School

Synergy Architects were asked to design a replacement junior school building for this existing community primary school. The development provided a new 240-pupil Key Stage 2 building, with an integrated 2-class satellite facility for a nearby SEN School, as well as refurbishment of the retained infants building. The design and programme were tailored to allow teaching to continue unhindered throughout.

As part of a partnering arrangement, we were appointed by the contractor from feasiblility stage to completion. Comprehensive stakeholder consultation and successful collaboration with the contractor enabled us to deliver a high quality, yet value-for-money solution. The client was delighted with the flexible teaching accommodation provided and Ofsted noted the contribution of the new facility to the school’s achievement in its inspection after completion.

The building achieved a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating and includes a host of sustainable features, including rainwater recycling and a computer-controlled management system for efficient operation.
