Brooklands Farm Primary School
An exciting new-build 630-place primary school, with integral nursery facility, to provide a second campus for an existing successful primary school. The school shares its site with Brooklands Pavilion, a sports and community facility built at the same time, and sits at the heart of a new community in Milton Keynes' eastern expansion area.
The scheme was delivered on time and within budget but one of its greatest successes is the extent to which our design met and exceeded the client’s expecttions. The brief required a three-form entry school and the community building to be provided on a site that was originally allocated for a two-form entry school. Our design expertise ensured that the client’s ambitions were achieved with flying colours despite the restricted site.
The project was won in competition under a framework agreement and the design developed through a comprehensive client engagement process to ensure the final scheme provided the outstanding facilities that the council required. We were lead consultant to the council's framework contractor and our service included BIM 3D modelling to ensure a fully coordinated design.
The achievements of the project team were rewarded when the school won 'Best Educational Building' at the 2016 LABC Central Building Excellence Awards.
